New Girls Basketball Coach Named!
Platteview High School is pleased to announce the hiring of Gary Wood as our new
Head Girl’s Basketball Coach. Gary will be replacing Ron Coughlin at the helm of the
Trojan program.

Coach Wood will bring over 25 years of coaching experience to the position,
including serving under some of the most successful basketball coaches in the area.
Coach Wood served as a Varsity Assistant at Bellevue East from 2003-2006 when
the Chieftains appeared in three state championships and won the class A title in
2006. Coach Wood also was the Varsity Assistant in the Chieftains Boys’ program in
2000-2002. His other experience spans all ages of youth development in the sport of
basketball. He is highly respected for the tenacity that his teams play on defense in
pressuring other teams and for his ability to develop basketball skills at all levels.
Coach Wood served as an assistant in the football and girl’s basketball program at
Platteview High School, as well as working as a special education staff member this
school year. We are excited to have Coach Wood lead our program.
